Hy-Vee’s Bakery is hiring a Bakery Cake Designer to bring customer visions to life—from birthdays to weddings. You will decorate cakes, greet customers, take orders, set up production timelines, and collaborate with the bakery team to keep production running smoothly.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Six months or less of similar or related work experience; training provided.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced bakery environment.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers with a smile, take orders at the bakery counter, and assist with needs throughout the store.
• Check daily orders, set up timelines and production schedules, verify cake details (size, deco pack, icing, dates).
• Decorate bakery items and stay current on new designs and trends; develop daily bakery orders for bakers.
• Track daily production and coordinate tasks with co-workers; pull cases and list items to fill or replace.
• Order decorating supplies and deliver wedding cakes on site; set up displays and coordinate with Bakery Manager.
• Lead part-time employees, provide instruction, review work, and participate in cross-training.
• Maintain sanitation and cleanliness; follow safety rules, dress code, and store guidelines.
• Answer phones and provide friendly service to customers taking product orders.
