Job summary

Whole Foods Market in Washington, DC seeks a skilled Bakery Decorator to create and decorate cakes, tarts, and pastries, including special orders. You will use artistic techniques, follow recipes, and ensure quality standards while delivering excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements include 6–12 months of retail or restaurant experience and completion of the Bakery Decorator Apprentice program, or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6–12 months retail or restaurant experience.
• Complete the Bakery Decorator Apprentice training program, or equivalent experience.
• Prior experience in a professional bakery or grocery retail is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, fill, and finish/decorate cakes, tarts, pastries, and special orders.
• Build and decorate cakes following standard procedures to meet demand and record production data.
• Prioritize production lists and adjust as needed.
• Merchandise products in the display case and ensure freshness and rotation.
• Guide Bakery Decorator Apprentices and other team members.
• Create special order cake designs based on customer preferences.
• Provide excellent customer service and respond to customer needs promptly.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary work area and equipment.
• Perform opening, mid, and closing duties and ensure accurate signage/pricing.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
