Whole Foods Market is seeking a Bakery Decorator to craft and decorate cakes, tarts, pastries, and special-order items with artistic flair. You will ensure quality, proper presentation, and consistent color schemes while delivering excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment.

The role includes training apprentices, maintaining cleanliness, and following all food-safety procedures. Flexibility for a schedule that includes nights, weekends, and holidays is required.

Qualifications

• Efficient cake and pastry decorating skills with intermediate piping techniques.
• Understanding color theory for buttercream coloring and coordinated palettes.
• Ability to follow recipes, directions, and procedures with good time management.
• Advanced knife handling and safety with kitchen tools.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, fill, and finish/decorate cakes, tarts, and special-order bakery items.
• Build, ice, and decorate cakes following standard procedures to meet business demand.
• Prioritize production lists and adjust as needed.
• Merchandise and display products in the case, monitor freshness and rotate stock.
• Provide guidance for Bakery Decorator Apprentices and team members.
• Create special order cake designs based on customer preferences.
• Deliver excellent customer service and respond promptly to inquiries.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary work and shopping environment; comply with safety standards.
• Perform opening, mid, and closing duties and ensure signage/pricing accuracy.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
