Job summary

Whole Foods Market in Woodcliff Lake, NJ seeks a Bakery Decorator to craft and decorate cakes, tarts, and pastries with attention to detail. You will build and finish specialty items, ensuring quality and consistency while delivering outstanding service to customers.

You will also train Apprentices, manage production, and follow safety and company standards. Expect a dynamic environment, flexible hours, and opportunities to contribute to high-quality, freshly prepared goods.

Qualifications

• Efficient cake and pastry decorating skills, including intermediate piping techniques.
• Understand color theory for blending buttercream colors and coordinating palettes.
• Ability to follow recipes, directions, and procedures; strong time management and organization.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, fill, and finish/decorate cakes, tarts, select pastry, and special-order bakery items.
• Build, ice, and decorate cakes and other bakery items following standard procedures to meet business demand; complete production and spoilage records.
• Prioritize production lists and recommend adjustments as needed.
• Merchandise and showcase products in the display case; monitor quality and rotation.
• Provide guidance and support for Bakery Decorator Apprentices and other team members.
• Create special order cake designs based on customer preferences.
• Provide excellent customer service, address needs promptly, and practice suggestive selling.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary working environment; ensure equipment safety.
• Perform opening, mid, and closing duties with accurate signage and pricing.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
