Whole Foods Market in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Bakery Decorator to create and decorate cakes, tarts, pastries, and special-order items, using artistic skill to meet our quality standards and delight customers.

You will follow safety procedures, support Bakery Decorator Apprentices, design custom cake orders, deliver excellent service, and maintain a clean, sanitary workspace. This fast-paced role requires lifting up to 50 pounds and a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Efficient cake and pastry decorating skills.
• Intermediate piping techniques and ability to create decorative flowers and borders.
• Knowledge of color theory for buttercream colors.
• Ability to follow recipes and procedures; strong time management.
• Advanced knife handling and safety.
• Basic math for recipe conversions.
• Strong communication and teamwork.
• Ability to meet customer service expectations.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, fill, and finish/decorate cakes, tarts, select pastry, and special-order bakery items.
• Build, ice, and decorate cakes following standard procedures and maintain production records.
• Prioritize production lists and adjust as needed.
• Merchandise products in the display case and monitor freshness; rotate stock.
• Provide guidance for Apprentices and other Team Members.
• Create special order cake designs based on customer preferences.
• Provide excellent customer service and handle phones promptly.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary work area; uphold safety standards.
• Perform opening, mid, and closing duties and ensure accurate signage/pricing.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
