Job summary

Southampton County Public Schools Cafeteria is seeking a Cafeteria Assistant Manager to support daily cafeteria operations, supervise staff, assist with food preparation, and ensure health and safety standards are met in the school kitchen and dining areas.

This role also handles inventory, administrative tasks, and coordination with the Cafeteria Manager to deliver timely, quality meals to students while maintaining a positive, safe work environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; food service management education preferred.
• Experience supervising cafeteria staff and managing daily operations.
• Knowledge of health, sanitation, and food safety regulations.
• Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supervising and training cafeteria staff to follow safety and sanitation standards.
• Schedule staff shifts and manage staffing levels to meet needs.
• Oversee food preparation, serving, and meal cleanliness according to recipes and menus.
• Ensure compliance with health regulations and maintain kitchen cleanliness.
• Assist with inventory, ordering, receiving, and record-keeping.
• Handle administrative tasks and support budgeting and meal payments.
• Support special events, catering, and other functions as needed.
