Job summary

Norwell Community Schools is seeking a School Food Service Assistant Manager to support daily cafeteria operations, supervise staff, and ensure nutritious meals comply with federal, state, and local regulations.

The role focuses on food safety, inventory management, POS operations, and meeting USDA guidelines while delivering excellent service to students and staff, with hours aligned to the school calendar.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; nutrition or food service coursework preferred.
• Experience in school or institutional food service; supervisory experience preferred.
• Knowledge of HACCP and food safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily cafeteria operations, including meal prep, serving, and cleanup.
• Support menus meeting USDA and district nutrition guidelines.
• Supervise cafeteria staff when the Food Service Manager is absent.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
• Manage inventory, orders, and waste reduction.
• Operate POS systems and handle cash procedures.
• Train staff on procedures and safety standards.
• Maintain production and temperature logs and reports.
• Address student and staff concerns professionally.
• Foster a positive cafeteria environment.
• Provide support for catering events.
