Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Supervisor for Cafe Retail Dining at the Second Street Cafe. You will supervise staff, manage schedules, train team members, and drive food quality, presentation, and customer satisfaction across campus.

Responsibilities include cash handling, order placement, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. This role supports the hospital dining program with a focus on service excellence.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in food management or equivalent, or high school diploma/GED with Certified Dietary Manager credential or 10 years practical food service experience.
• Proficiency in computer skills.
• 5 years practical food service experience in hospital, retail, or similar environment.

Responsibilities

• Supervises all staff, including scheduling, training, delegating and evaluating.
• Maintains daily assignment schedule and reassigns staff as necessary.
• Reports mechanical deficiencies to management and places work orders.
• Ensures food presentation, portioning, taste, dietary compliance and consistency.
• Maintains sanitation standards per health code and logs temperatures of equipment.
• Leads daily meetings to inform staff of all department activities on campus.
• Orders retail supplies and baked goods through the food buyer.
• Prepares daily cash flow sheets and records cash receipts.
• Ensures adherence to presentation and portion control procedures.
• Aligns with Medical Center Organizational & Managerial Competencies.
