Canteen, part of Compass Group USA, is hiring an Assistant Food Service Manager to support the Food Service Director in a high-volume retail café and catering operation serving a large worship community. Ideal candidates thrive in fast-paced settings, develop teams, and manage multiple priorities with professionalism.

The role focuses on hospitality, food quality, and guest service for services, conferences, and events, with leadership responsibilities and on-duty coverage when needed.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Hospitality, Food Service Management, Culinary Arts, Business, or related field preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in food service, hospitality, catering, or event operations.
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
• Experience supporting large-scale catering events and high-volume operations.
• Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
• Knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation standards.
• ServSafe or equivalent certification preferred.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and special events.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily café and catering operations to deliver an exceptional guest experience.
• Maintain high standards for food quality, presentation, cleanliness, and service.
• Resolve guest concerns and operational issues professionally and promptly.
• Monitor inventory, product quality, and operational efficiency.
• Coordinate and execute catering events for 200 to 1,000+ guests.
• Assist with event planning, scheduling, setup, service, and breakdown.
• Lead staff and volunteers; hire, train, schedule; promote servant leadership.
• Assist with inventory management, purchasing, vendor coordination, and cost control.
• Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and sanitation standards.
