Job summary

The Cambridge School of Culinary Arts (CSCA Café) in Cambridge, MA seeks a Cafe Assistant Manager to support daily operations, lead a fast-paced team, and ensure exceptional guest experiences. This hands-on role reports to the Cafe General Manager and requires coaching, smooth service, and adherence to standards.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in a café, bakery, restaurant, or similar hospitality environment, with supervisory or shift leadership experience.
• Hands-on barista experience and proficiency with espresso equipment preferred.
• Experience training, coaching, and supervising employees.
• ServSafe Food Manager certification or ability to obtain certification within a set period.
• Strong customer service skills and hospitality passion.
• Excellent organizational, multitasking, problem-solving, and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily café operations with GM absent and act as Manager on Duty when needed.
• Lead and coach Shift Leads, Baristas, and support staff to maintain standards.
• Assist with scheduling, training, and staff coverage.
• Ensure beverage quality, product freshness, and accurate cash handling.
• Maintain cleanliness, safety, and compliance with health regulations.
• Support promotions, events, and customer engagement initiatives.
