Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. seeks a CAD Manager to lead a team delivering SUE and utility mapping in AutoCAD Civil 3D for DOT, land development, renewable energy, and public utilities.

The role involves workload planning, training, QA/QC oversight, and tool development. You will supervise CAD technicians, ensure standards compliance, and collaborate with project managers to meet deadlines and budgets across multiple offices including Overland Park.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of CAD drafting experience on SUE and utility mapping.
• 3+ years leading a CAD team or supervising CAD technicians.
• Proven ability to delegate, manage workload, and meet deadlines/quality.
• Experience training CAD staff across experience levels.
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D including surfaces, alignments, styles.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of CAD technicians across multiple projects to meet deadlines and budgets.
• Train and mentor CAD staff on Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, ArcGIS, CAD standards, and SUE deliverables.
• Develop training programs and onboarding materials for CAD staff.
• Provide feedback, set performance goals, and participate in staffing decisions.
• Forecast workload and coordinate staffing with project managers and leadership.
• Oversee QA/QC of drawings and deliverables before submittal.
• Maintain CAD standards, templates, styles, and workflows across deliverables.
• Lead development of AutoCAD automation tools to improve speed and consistency.
• Prepare CAD drawings and SUE deliverables for DOT, land development, renewable energy, and public utility projects.
• Process field data in Trimble Business Center and Civil 3D, including surveys and pipe networks.
• Manage utility data in ArcGIS and exchange data between GIS and CAD deliverables.
• Interpret as-builts and right-of-way documents; coordinate with project teams.
• Collaborate with managers, field crews, engineers, and staff on project needs.
