Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a CAD Manager to lead a team of CAD technicians across multiple offices, delivering SUE and utility mapping in AutoCAD Civil 3D for DOT, land development, renewable energy, and public utility projects.

You will assign workloads, mentor staff, oversee QA/QC, develop tools and workflows, and advance automation with scripts and LISP to improve accuracy and speed. This role requires strong leadership and CAD technical excellence.

Qualifications

• 5+ years CAD drafting/management experience on SUE, utility mapping and survey for large projects.
• Proven ability to lead, supervise, and develop CAD staff across multiple projects.
• Experience training, teaching, and mentoring CAD staff at varying levels.
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, surfaces, alignments, templates and styles.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of CAD technicians, assigning, delegating, and prioritizing work across projects.
• Train, mentor, and coach staff on Civil 3D, Trimble BCT, ArcGIS, and SUE deliverables.
• Develop training programs, onboarding plans, and reference materials for CAD staff.
• Provide feedback, set goals, and participate in staffing decisions.
• Forecast workload and coordinate with project managers and leadership.
• Oversee QA/QC of drawings and deliverables before submittal.
• Own CAD standards, templates, and workflows; ensure consistent application.
• Lead development of AutoCAD automation tools to improve speed and consistency.
• Prepare CAD drawings, exhibits for SUE and utility mapping projects.
• Process field data with Trimble BCT and Civil 3D; manage utility data in GIS/CAD.
• Coordinate with PMs, field crews, engineers and staff on needs and issues.
