Job summary

WSP seeks a Specialist, Technical Engineering Support in Herndon, VA to provide technical design and CADD support across transportation, infrastructure, and technical services projects. You will generate precise drawings and specifications, collaborate with engineers, and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.

The role emphasizes accurate deliverables, data analysis from site metrics, and coordination with clients and contractors.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Knowledge of drafting and design support principles.
• Knowledge of relevant codes, regulations and record-keeping requirements.
• Ability to perform technical computations using geometry and plans.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently or in a team.
• Analytical mindset with sound judgment.
• Proficiency with technical writing and software.
• Willingness to travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Collect, analyze data from sites, surveys, drawings and specs to support drafting and design activities.
• Use 3D CAD software and collaborate with engineers to resolve design details.
• Prepare drawings and design deliverables with precision and adherence to standards.
• Verify calculations and interpretation of plans, escalating issues as needed.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and coordinate with clients/contractors.
• Ensure plans comply with city, state and federal regulations.
• Prepare multiple design versions for review by engineers.
• Specify dimensions, materials and procedures per contract requirements.
• Support project phases with engineers and other professionals.
• Maintain adherence to company safety and conduct policies.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required.
