WSP is seeking a Specialist, Technical Engineering Support to join our Herndon, VA office. This full-time role supports technical design and CADD drafting for transportation, infrastructure, and technical services projects.

You will collect data from sites and drawings, use CAD tools, and collaborate with engineers to produce precise design deliverables while ensuring compliance with standards. The position emphasizes analytical problem-solving and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of drafting and design support principles, practices, processes and techniques.
• Capable communicating ideas clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Familiarity with codes, regulations, compliance practices and record-keeping requirements.
• Ability to perform technical computations using geometry and math concepts.

Responsibilities

• Collect and analyze data from sites, surveys, drawings, and specifications to support design activities.
• Use 3D CAD tools and coordinate with engineers to resolve design details for moderate complexity projects.
• Provide technical design assistance ensuring accurate illustration and function per standards.
• Verify calculations and interpretations of plans, escalating issues when needed.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams through project phases and reviews.
• Ensure plans comply with city, state, and federal regulations.
• Prepare multiple design versions for engineer review and approvals.
• Define dimensions, materials, and procedures for assigned projects and contract compliance.
• Maintain safety and ethical conduct in line with company policies.
