Job summary

WSP USA is seeking an Early Career Civil Roadway Engineer for our Herndon-Northern Virginia team. This role supports design, development, and construction of transportation infrastructure and systems in public and private sectors.

You will assist design teams across highway construction, interchanges, pedestrian facilities, and design-build projects, delivering documentation and technical inputs through various project stages.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline.
• 0 to 1 years of relevant post education experience.
• Basic knowledge of engineering principles, practices, process, and design.
• Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others.
• Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail and prioritization.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team to meet objectives.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, software, spreadsheets, and technology.
• Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to policies.
• Occasional travel may be required depending on project requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist and support design teams in project delivery on highway construction and related transportation types.
• Provide technical input during preliminary and final design, and contract documentation including cost estimates and specs.
• Perform basic design tasks, engineering calculations, and drawings using CAD tools.
• Coordinate with project teams, managers, and civil team; attend project meetings.
• Prepare memorandums and other written technical documents.
• Develop and maintain positive team relationships; assist across disciplines as required.
• Collect data and gather information or documents; discuss and propose solutions to issues.
