Job summary

The Salk Institute is seeking an IT Specialist to deliver professional end-user support in a BYOD research environment. The role spans endpoint, identity, collaboration services, and specialized lab equipment, with remote site coverage and user training.

You will document issues and follow established provisioning standards. Responsibilities include deploying devices, managing accounts, assisting with data storage and research software, and escalating complex incidents per Tier 3 guidelines.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of desktop, laptop, mobile and peripheral support experience in a multi-platform environment.
• Minimum two years supporting macOS and Windows operating systems and business applications; working familiarity with Linux.
• Minimum two years providing IT support services using a ticketing system, with demonstrated ownership of a personal queue.
• Demonstrated experience administering user accounts, group membership and permissions in Active Directory or a comparable directory service.

Responsibilities

• Serves as first point of contact for end-user requests and provides second-line resolution.
• Troubleshoots hardware, software, OS, applications and network issues across macOS, Windows, Linux and mobile platforms.
• Configures and deploys devices to standard configurations and applies updates.
• Supports Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint and Office apps.
