Job summary

The Salk Institute for Biological Studies is seeking an IT Specialist to deliver end-user support across a BYOD research environment, and to administer endpoint, identity, collaboration and workplace technology. The role spans campus and remote Institute sites, with a strong emphasis on specialized scientific workstations and instrument-attached systems.

Qualifications

• Two years of desktop, laptop, mobile and peripheral support in a multi-platform environment.
• Two years supporting macOS and Windows OS and business apps; Linux familiarity helpful.
• Two years delivering IT support via a ticketing system with personal queue ownership.
• Experience administering user accounts, groups and permissions in directory services.
• Experience with endpoint deployment, imaging, provisioning and secure disposal.

Responsibilities

• Provide end-user technical support (Tier 1 and 2) across devices and platforms.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, OS, apps and network across macOS, Windows and Linux.
• Administer endpoint, identity, collaboration and workplace tech within standards.
• Document incidents and resolutions in the IT service management system.
• Assist with deployments, upgrades, asset management and vendor coordination.
• Escalate complex issues to Tier 3 and cybersecurity teams when needed.
