Specific Activities, and Responsibilities :
The Buyer / Planner is primarily responsible for indirect and direct material procurement, delivery, and confirmation of delivery and release to support the Master Product Schedule.
General :
- Maintain effectiveness of the Quality System components relevant to this position.
- Responsible for the supply of all materials to support production at Somerset facility.
- Identify issues and resolve problems regarding materials. Support problem resolution and communication to all affected internal customers (QA, Operations, Scheduling, Customer Service, and Finance).
- Lead investigations related to material discrepancies and Trackwise events.
- Other duties as assigned.
Buying / Purchasing :
- Generate and issue purchase orders (PO) to Suppliers within JDE in accordance with Approved Suppliers and ensure timely approval of POs with the associated approval chain.
- Manage lead times and rush expenses with suppliers.
- Maintain tracker of order status, PO status, lead time, and receipt for all goods.
- Source new suppliers, vendors, distributors as needed based on input from Formulations and Operations.
- Ensure receipt of all documentation for materials (Specification, Instructions / Manual, COA, MSDS, BSE / TSE, GMO, EI as applicable).
- Monitor and adjust open POs and supplier commitments. Resolve three-way match issues to ensure timely supplier payment.
- Obtain quotes for materials as requested and specified by site team members.
- Collaborate with Global Procurement for high-value purchases to ensure CDA, Code of Conduct, and Contract are executed as applicable.
- Support Capex processes.
Planning :
- Perform raw material planning for projects within JDE.
- Maintain inventory levels consistent with site policies and goals. Quarterly adjust safety stock levels in JDE based on self-analysis of inventory levels.
- Maintain Item Masters, BOMs, routes, and other associated supply chain data.
- Support launch activities for new products as directed.
- Review excess & obsolete inventory and provide supporting data to seek customer reimbursement for customer-owned materials.
- Monitor inventory levels for raw materials to ensure site meets inventory targets. Adjust purchasing activities accordingly.
- Process materials for destruction upon obsolescence or expiry.
- Handle shipment of materials including samples and shipment documentation preparation.
Minimum Requirements :
- Bachelor’s degree in life science discipline, supply chain, or business, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of X years experience in a similar role including production planning, inventory control, and purchasing.
- Minimum of X years in the pharmaceutical industry or demonstrated adequate knowledge of controls and requirements in a pharmaceutical environment.
- Experience working with MRP systems.
- Ability to interpret MRP reports, stock status reports, and material variance reports.
- Effective communication skills for interaction with outside suppliers, production operations, and management.
- Strong teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Organizational skills with good record-keeping and quick information retrieval.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking clear English.
