  • Supervise office operations, including student staff.
  • Represent SABSC on committees and workgroups for DoSA leadership.

Student Affairs Business Services Center (SABSC)

Position Overview:

The University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) is seeking a Business Services Specialist for the Student Affairs Business Services Center (SABSC). This position works closely with Division of Student Affairs (DoSA) staff and other University departments and oversees payroll, purchasing and other activities for select DoSA departments and all student organizations.

Telework:

A hybrid telework schedule may be available upon satisfactory completion of the six-month probation period.

Responsibilities:

Duties include:

  • Supervise and monitor payroll-related transactions on behalf of designated DoSA departments, including but not limited to time entry, new employee onboarding and other personnel actions.
  • Supervise and monitor purchasing on behalf of DoSA departments and student organizations using various purchasing methods, including Paw Procurement and procurement cards.
  • Supervise monthly reconciliation of financial data and provide regular reports and analyses to the Director of Business and Administrative Services and DoSA leadership.
  • Meet regularly with DoSA directors and other staff to review financial and personnel activities.
  • Supervise office operations, including student staff.
  • Represent SABSC on various committees and workgroups on behalf of Director and DoSA leadership.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Six years progressively responsible experience in a combination of budgeting, accounting, payroll, purchasing and personnel work

Note: Additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.

  • Experience in a higher education environment
  • Supervision of student employees

Salary:

Pay Range 11 (minimum: $243.77 per hour / maximum: $31.49 per hour) based on the University System of Maryland (USM) Pay Program. $24.93 to $31.49

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, Memorandum of Understanding, USM Board of Regent policies, internal equity, budget and qualifications and experience. Most salary offers will be close to the minimum part of the range.

The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
