Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate accounts payable and accounts receivable with the accounting team.
  • Map workflows, identify inefficiencies, and implement improvements.
  • Develop and maintain operational procedures, templates, and SOPs across departments.
  • Support CEO and leadership by translating objectives into operational plans and KPIs.
  • Lead operational projects from planning through implementation with timelines and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and internal controls; maintain records and documentation.
  • Identify operational risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Facilitate cross-department communication and change-management initiatives.

Description

The Business Operations Specialist works closely with the Alaska Investment Management firm's CEO and senior leadership to support the efficient execution of day-to-day business operations – spanning finance and accounting coordination, process improvement, project management, compliance, vendor management, technology initiatives, budgeting, and client onboarding.

The Specialist works cross-functionally with accounting, legal, IT, and other internal and external stakeholders to improve processes, maintain operational controls, and translate organizational priorities into repeatable workflows and measurable results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, working with the accounting team to monitor, measure, and report expenses.
  • Map existing workflows, identify inefficiencies and bottlenecks, and develop and implement recommendations for improvement.
  • Develop, document, and maintain operational procedures, templates, checklists, and standard operating procedures across departments.
  • Support the CEO and senior leadership in executing strategic initiatives by translating organizational objectives into operational plans, milestones, and measurable KPIs.
  • Lead designated operational projects from planning through implementation, establishing timelines and coordinating internal stakeholders and external vendors.
  • Support compliance with applicable laws, regulations, contractual obligations, and Firm policies; maintain operational documentation, records, and internal controls.
  • Identify operational risks and help develop and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Facilitate communication and coordination across departments and support organizational change-management initiatives.
Requirements
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Management, Operations, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
Experience
  • 2–5 years of progressively responsible experience in business operations, finance, administration, project coordination, or a related function.
  • Experience coordinating work across multiple departments and managing competing priorities.
  • Experience handling confidential and sensitive information with sound judgment and discretion.
Core Skills
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and project-management skills.
  • Ability to develop processes and documentation and drive assignments through completion.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; comfortable working with senior executives, colleagues, vendors, and professional service providers.
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Requires regular use of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly in person, over the phone, and via email.
