Job Title: Business Operations Consultant
Monthly Pay: $3,882 - $5,558 USD per month
Summary:
An internal business operations request arrives, gets examined, becomes a practical recommendation, and closes with a clear handoff. This entry level consultant helps solve everyday workflow problems so colleagues can complete routine work with fewer delays and clearer responsibilities. The role sits within the operations team, works under an operations team lead, and collaborates with process owners and internal service teams. Guided assignments involve understanding current steps, comparing workable options, and helping colleagues test improvements before broader use. This fully remote position lets you work from home in Arizona, United States. The role requires a 40-hour weekly commitment. Working days and shift times may vary.
Job Responsibilities:
- Receive internal requests through a shared email inbox or task queue, clarify the operational problem, and confirm the expected outcome with the requester.
- Check request details against existing procedures, identify missing context, and record the issue, affected workflow, owner, and next action for review.
- Organize request stages and task dependencies using a project management tool such as monday.com, keeping ownership and progress visible to the operations team.
- Ask process owners how work moves between teams, noting repeated handoffs, unclear responsibilities, avoidable waiting, and differences between stated procedures and actual practice.
- Illustrate current and proposed workflows using a process mapping tool such as Lucidchart, highlighting where a simple change could address the reported problem.
- Compare practical options with guidance from the operations team lead, considering effort, dependencies, likely impact, and the information available before recommending an approach.
- Explain recommendations to requesters and process owners in plain language, describe the reasoning, and confirm who will decide whether to proceed.
- Coordinate small approved trials, check whether agreed steps are followed, and summarize feedback without making unsupported promises about results or savings.
- Follow up when information or decisions are overdue, and elevate conflicting priorities, unclear ownership, or unresolved obstacles to the operations team lead.
- Close requests after the owner confirms the outcome; quality is judged by accuracy, turnaround, complete notes, useful recommendations, and consistent follow-up.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- No experience required; related experience supporting business operations, administrative workflows, or process improvement activities is preferred.
- Basic understanding of how internal requests, task ownership, handoffs, and standard procedures connect across business operations.
- Ability to compare information, distinguish observations from assumptions, and develop practical recommendations with guidance rather than relying on unsupported conclusions.
- Familiarity with task tracking and process mapping tools is preferred, with willingness to learn the example systems described above.
- Clear written and verbal communication for asking focused questions, explaining recommendations, and confirming next steps with different internal contacts.
- Reliable computer, high-speed internet, and quiet private workspace suitable for focused remote work and confidential business conversations.
- Availability for the 40-hour weekly commitment and agreed working days and shift times.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Fully remote work from home in Arizona, United States, with desk-based responsibilities.
- Structured onboarding and training on a project management tool such as monday.com and a process mapping tool such as Lucidchart.
- Regular check-ins with the operations team lead for assignment guidance, feedback, and questions.
- Opportunities to build business analysis, workflow mapping, recommendation development, and cross-team coordination skills through guided assignments.
- Health coverage, paid leave, a 401(k), maternity leave, and bonus opportunities.
