Qualifications

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage the Business Office ensuring confidentiality of clinical, personnel, and business records.
  • Maintain an accurate census.
  • Interpret and analyze accounts receivable reports to provide correct balances and collect outstanding balances.
  • Initiate necessary actions promptly to ensure accurate balances.
  • Communicate with patients, responsible parties, insurance companies, and government agencies to collect outstanding receivables.
  • Conduct pre-admission financial counseling to determine payor sources and discuss available services.
  • Discuss financial concerns with patients and families.
  • Ensure compliance with rules governing Medicare, Medicaid, and insurance payments.
  • Follow procedural guidelines for Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Patient Trust Fund.
  • Promote the system's image through servant leadership and open communication.
  • Contribute to committees, workgroups, and project management efforts.
  • Perform other duties as necessary for the system's success.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Warm and approachable interaction with colleagues, patients, and visitors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

At least two years’ experience in a business office supervisory role is preferred. Knowledge of computers, office equipment, and business software.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise the business office staff.
LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret safety and procedural documents, write routine reports, and communicate effectively before groups.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations.

REASONING ABILITY

Apply common sense to carry out instructions and solve problems involving multiple variables.

COMPUTER APPLICATION SKILLS

Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Refer to minimum qualifications.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Regularly sit, talk, hear, walk, handle, and reach. Occasionally stand. Vision abilities include close, distance, and focus adjustments.
