Founded in 1900, the university is an urban, residential, historically black institution offering 32 undergraduate majors, 14 graduate majors, 15 certificate programs, and one doctoral program, serving nearly 3,000 students in day, evening, online, and weekend courses.
The Division of Academic Affairs includes the Office of the Provost and four colleges – the College of Business, the College of Arts & Sciences and Education, the College of Health Professions, and the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences – as well as the Honors College, the College of Graduate Studies, the Office of Grants, Research and Sponsored Programs, Institutional Planning and Assessment, and the Parlett L. Moore Library.
