This is an exciting opportunity to work for one of the top law firms in the U.S.! Davis Wright Tremaine LLP is looking for a Business Development Specialist to join our team in our Seattle, Portland, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington D.C. or New York offices.
We offer a hybrid work engagement with two days of remote work, and three days in-office.
Davis Wright Tremaine LLP is seeking a dynamic, highly organized Business Development Specialist to support our Media, Entertainment, Patent, Trademark, and Advertising practices (MEPTA). This individual will work closely with the Business Development Manager, attorneys, and practice leaders to develop and execute business development, marketing, and client engagement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have prior law firm experience, strong project management skills, and the ability to foster relationships with attorneys across all seniority levels.

On a typical day you will:
  • Develop a deep understanding of MEPTA practice areas, services, clients, and competitive positioning.
  • Project manage and coordinate client-facing events, webinars, sponsorships, and conferences, ensuring all logistics, marketing, and follow-up activities are handled seamlessly.
  • Coordinate response to submissions for legal industry awards and recognition, including assisting with drafting and process project management.
  • Work directly with the Business Development Manager and attorneys to support the execution of business development strategies, including preparing customized pitches, proposals, RFPs, and presentations.
  • Assist in the development, drafting, and updating of marketing collateral, website content, and practice-specific experience materials.
  • Conduct market research, competitive intelligence, and client research to support business development targeting and attorney coaching.
  • Serve as a point of contact for attorneys regarding BD best practices, available resources, and marketing support.
  • Track and maintain client development activities, experience databases, mailing lists, and CRM updates (InTapp/DealCloud/Interaction/Foundation experience a plus).
  • Support internal practice group meetings, reporting, and business planning efforts.
  • Collaborate with the Events, Communications, and Practice Management teams to amplify MEPTA visibility and cross-practice initiatives.
  • Provide administrative support as needed, including scheduling, coordination, and meeting preparation related to BD activities.

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, communications, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in a professional services environment; law firm experience highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience interacting directly with attorneys, partners, and senior staff.
  • High level of organization with the ability to independently manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience coordinating events, webinars, and other client engagement activities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); CRM systems familiarity (InTapp, Foundation, Interaction) is a plus.
  • Intellectual curiosity and eagerness to understand the Firm's practices, clients, and broader market dynamics.
  • Strong attention to detail, follow-up, and responsiveness.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams while maintaining autonomy in project execution.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

The annualized salary range for this position in Washington is $71,000 to $90,000 ($36.41-$46.15 hourly).Actual pay will be adjusted based on the candidate's education, training, experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. Full time employees may be eligible for a bonus, health insurance with an optional HSA, long term disability, dental insurance, vision care, telemedicine and virtual short term solution based counseling services, life insurance, Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, subsidized backup care and caregiving resources, 401(k), vacation, sick time, 11 paid holidays each year and an employee assistance program. For full-time employees, the initial vacation benefit is 15 days per year and 11 days of sick leave per year, accrued bi-weekly. Additional voluntary programs include: voluntary accident insurance, voluntary life, voluntary disability, voluntary long term care, and pet insurance. Commuter and Transit programs are also available.
California
The annualized salary range for this position in Los Angeles is $70,000 to $88,000 ($35.90 to $45.13 hourly); and in San Francisco is $81,000 to $103,000 ($41.54-$52.82 hourly). Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. Full time employees may be eligible for a bonus, health insurance with an optional HSA, long term disability, dental insurance, vision care, telemedicine and virtual short term solution based counseling services, life insurance, Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, subsidized backup care and caregiving resources, 401(k), vacation, sick time, and an employee assistance program. Additional voluntary programs include: voluntary accident insurance, voluntary life, voluntary disability, voluntary long term care, and pet insurance. Commuter and Transit programs are also available.
New York
The annualized salary range for this position in New York City is $75,000 to $95,000 ($41.21-$52.20 hourly). Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. Full time employees may be eligible for a bonus, health insurance with an optional HSA, short term disability, long term disability, dental insurance, vision care, telemedicine and virtual short term solution based counseling services, life insurance, Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, subsidized backup care and caregiving resources, 401(k), vacation, sick time, and an employee assistance program. Additional voluntary programs include: voluntary accident insurance, voluntary life, voluntary disability, voluntary long term care, and pet insurance. Commuter and Transit programs are also available.
District of Columbia
The annualized salary range for this position in Washington D.C. is $70,000 to $89,000 ($35.90-$45.64 hourly). Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. Full time employees may be eligible for a bonus, health insurance with an optional HSA, short term disability, long term disability, dental insurance, vision care, telemedicine and virtual short term solution based counseling services, life insurance, Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, subsidized backup care and caregiving resources, 401(k), vacation, sick time, and an employee assistance program.
