Naperville, IL | Hybrid - 2 days in office, 3 days remote
Annual Salary Range: $50,000-$60,000 + Commission
About the Role
180 Engineering is seeking a driven, curious, and highly coachable Business Development Representative to help create new client relationships and qualified sales opportunities.
This is a high-activity outbound sales role focused on connecting with prospective customers through cold calling, email, LinkedIn, and other forms of outreach. You will be responsible for starting conversations with decision‑makers, understanding their business and talent needs, qualifying potential opportunities, and helping advance those conversations through the sales process.
Success in this role requires more than simply completing activity. You must be able to communicate credibly, ask thoughtful questions, listen for customer needs, and connect those needs to relevant recruiting, staffing, or consulting solutions.
You will receive regular coaching, feedback, and support, but you will also be expected to take ownership of your development, proactively seek help when needed, and independently find ways to improve your results.
What You Will Do
- Complete approximately 75–100 outbound calls per day as part of a consistent prospecting routine.
- Prospect and qualify companies and decision‑makers that align with 180 Engineering's ideal client profile.
- Research prospective organizations, leaders, priorities, and potential business challenges before and throughout outreach.
- Use cold calling, email, LinkedIn, and other outreach methods to create conversations and generate qualified meetings.
- Communicate clearly and confidently with prospective customers across initial calls, follow‑up, and solution‑focused conversations.
- Ask thoughtful questions and listen for customer goals, challenges, timing, resource needs, and potential opportunities.
- Connect customer needs to relevant recruiting, staffing, or consulting solutions offered by 180 Engineering.
- Qualify opportunities based on factors such as need, urgency, timing, key stakeholders, and likelihood of advancement.
- Build, manage, and consistently replenish an active sales pipeline.
- Prioritize prospects and opportunities based on engagement, customer need, timing, potential value, and likelihood of advancement.
- Maintain persistent and professional follow‑up with prospects across multiple touchpoints.
- Work through objections, adjust messaging, and experiment with different approaches when outreach is not generating results.
- Utilize multiple communication channels rather than relying exclusively on one prospecting method.
- Participate in discovery and sales conversations as opportunities develop.
- Work with multiple stakeholders when necessary to help move opportunities toward agreement and signature.
- Maintain accurate and complete prospect, activity, and opportunity information within the CRM.
- Ensure clean, complete context is handed off to leadership and other team members as opportunities advance.
- Regularly review your results, identify where you can improve, and actively seek coaching and feedback.

- A problem‑solving mindset with the ability to connect customer needs to relevant products, programs, or solutions.
