Job Overview
The primary function of the Business Development Officer is to acquire additional outstanding loan volume in the cash value line of credit product by developing existing relationships and acquiring new leads with insurance agents and financial advisors throughout the country.
Job Description
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Establish contacts with various insurance agents and financial advisors throughout the Bank's footprint. Work with these individuals to deliver the message of our product through presentations to the insurance agents/agencies.
- Work with Valley's Retail Bank administration to coordinate the generation and closing of credit lines throughout our branch footprint. Provide technical support to the branch network in problem resolution.
- Meet with insurance agents, who act as financial advisors for their clients, to discuss the added value of the Bank's cash surrender value life insurance line product.
- Coordinate and communicate with the Bank's various branches to close the approved lines of credit. Discuss with these branches the borrower's background to develop the possibility of cross selling other products to the respective borrowers.
- Assume additional responsibilities as assigned by management.
Requirements
Required Skills:
- Strong understanding of various computer software applications to include at a minimum Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong analytical abilities.
- Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills/teamwork skills.
- Ability to multi-task (Calling on prospects and following up on calls outstanding/or new prospects).
- High level of interpersonal and social skills needed to interact with high net worth insurance agents, bank customers, and other prospective clients (networking).
- Good administrative skills.
- Excellent level of knowledge of the product.
- Strong presentation skills.
Required Experience:
- High School Diploma and a minimum of 3 years' experience in insurance products/sales.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 3 years' related experience preferred.
