Business Development Manager — Precision Manufacturing
Employment: Full-time
Compensation: Competitive base salary + uncapped commission
Fabriquick is an AS9100 and ISO 9001 certified precision manufacturing company serving customers in aerospace & defense, semiconductor, robotics, medical, electronics, and other advanced technology industries.
Our capabilities include:
- Precision sheet metal fabrication
- Laser cutting
- Bending and forming
- Welding
- CNC machining
- Production manufacturing
- Precision inspection and quality documentation
We are expanding our direct customer base and are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager / Manufacturing Sales professional to help drive that growth.
The Role
This is a new-business development role, not primarily an account-management position.
Your primary responsibility will be to identify and develop new direct customers, build relationships with engineering and procurement teams, generate qualified RFQs, win initial orders, and grow successful customers into long-term manufacturing relationships.
We are looking for someone who enjoys opening doors, developing new accounts, and turning technical manufacturing capabilities into business opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Identify and acquire new direct manufacturing customers.
- Develop relationships with mechanical engineers, manufacturing engineers, sourcing managers, buyers, procurement teams, and supply-chain professionals.
- Prospect target companies through phone, email, LinkedIn, referrals, industry relationships, networking, and in-person visits.
- Generate qualified RFQs for precision sheet metal, fabrication, CNC machining, and production manufacturing.
- Understand customer drawings, materials, tolerances, quantities, quality requirements, and delivery expectations sufficiently to communicate effectively with customers and our manufacturing team.
- Work closely with engineering, estimating, production, and quality personnel to develop competitive manufacturing solutions.
- Follow up on RFQs and quotations and actively move opportunities toward purchase orders.
- Convert initial and prototype orders into repeat and production business.
- Develop strategic accounts with significant long-term revenue potential.
- Maintain an organized sales pipeline and accurate CRM records.
- Track prospects, contacts, RFQs, quotations, follow-ups, wins/losses, and expected revenue.
- Conduct customer visits throughout the Bay Area and Northern California.
- Represent Fabriquick at relevant industry events, supplier events, and customer meetings.
- Provide market intelligence regarding customer demand, competitors, pricing, and emerging opportunities.
What We're Looking For
Strong candidates will have:
- 3+ years of B2B sales or business development experience.
- Demonstrated success personally developing new customer accounts.
- Experience selling CNC machining, precision sheet metal, fabrication, contract manufacturing, engineering services, or other technical manufacturing services strongly preferred.
- Experience selling to engineers, procurement teams, sourcing professionals, or manufacturing organizations.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing terminology and the ability to communicate comfortably about drawings, materials, tolerances, processes, and production requirements.
- Strong prospecting, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- A self-directed, persistent, highly organized approach to business development.
- Experience managing a structured sales pipeline and CRM.
Particularly Valuable Experience
We are especially interested in candidates with:
- Existing professional relationships within the Bay Area and Northern California manufacturing ecosystem.
- Experience developing business in aerospace & defense, semiconductor, robotics, medical device, electronics, or industrial technology.
- A track record of building a territory or book of business rather than simply managing inherited accounts.
- Experience selling for a precision machine shop, sheet metal fabricator, contract manufacturer, or similar manufacturing organization.
- A history of converting initial RFQs and prototype work into recurring production accounts.
What Success Looks Like
During your first year, you will be expected to:
- Develop a substantial pipeline of qualified target accounts.
- Establish relationships with engineering, sourcing, and procurement teams at target companies.
- Generate a consistent flow of qualified RFQs.
- Convert prospects into new direct customers.
- Develop multiple customers into repeat accounts.
- Build a pipeline capable of producing significant recurring annual revenue.
Performance will be evaluated primarily on profitable new business generated and development of valuable direct customer relationships, rather than simply activity metrics.
Compensation
This position includes a competitive base salary plus an uncapped performance-based commission structure.
The compensation plan is designed to strongly reward the acquisition and development of profitable direct customer accounts, with significant upside for high performers.
This is an opportunity to join a growing precision manufacturing company at an important stage of expansion.
Rather than inheriting a mature territory, you will have the opportunity to help build Fabriquick's direct sales organization, develop strategic customer relationships, and play a significant role in the company's next stage of growth.
Location of the work
This is a hybrid, field-based sales position. The successful candidate will have flexibility to work remotely while regularly visiting Fabriquick's Benicia manufacturing facility and customers throughout the Bay Area and Northern California. During the initial training period, more frequent onsite presence will be expected. Exception: Candidates in other parts of California such as Southern California with existing book of business they personally developed will be considered for position with mostly remote from the office work.
