The Business Development Manager (BDM) provides superior patient support and customer service via proactive intervention, communication, and patient advocacy, as well as emotional and educational support to patients and families coping with limb loss and/or a variety of orthotic and prosthetic needs.

The BDM should have a thorough understanding of prosthetics, orthotics, and the healthcare field. The role involves patient consultation, comfort, and guidance through referral, surgery, recovery, treatment, and rehab. The BDM will deliver the highest level of customer service to patients, referral sources, and colleagues through coordination and administration of patient care, building relationships with healthcare providers, and developing new opportunities for referrals.

The position involves managing communication with patients, internal teams, and healthcare providers involved in patient care on a day-to-day basis.

Your Impact
  • Ensure that new patients are contacted after their initial consultation.
  • Coordinate AMPOWER visits.
  • Build and maintain referral relationships for Hanger Clinic.
  • Support patients with amputations through the post-surgery weeks.
  • Maintain patient engagement with follow-up communications and appointments.
  • Provide information, resources, and counseling to patients and families about prosthetic/orthotic options.
  • Assist with upcoming visits, fittings, and insurance documentation.
  • Develop strategies to maximize revenue and generate new referral sources.
  • Work in hospital, skilled nursing, and rehab facilities, completing all necessary vendor credentialing.
  • Monitor territory performance and develop growth plans for each clinic.
Minimum Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of experience in a patient care environment.
  • Ability to be credentialed at major hospitals.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certifications such as ATC, CNA, MA, EMT, Surgical Technician, LVN, PTA, Physician Extenders, OTA, or similar.
  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Marketing, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.
Additional Success Factors
  • Experience in medical sales, therapeutic sales, home health, hospice, etc., focusing on services.
  • Highly motivated, target-driven, with a proven sales record.
  • Ability to operate independently and build relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills and proficiency with MS Office; Salesforce.com experience preferred.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel.
