The Business Development Manager - Aluminum Foundry is responsible for identifying, developing, and winning new customers for Edelbrock's aluminum sand casting and related manufacturing capabilities. This is a new-business hunting role focused on building a qualified pipeline from the ground up, penetrating new customer logos, identifying applications aligned with Edelbrock's capabilities, and moving opportunities from initial prospecting through RFQ, quoting, commercial negotiation, and business award. The role will target diversified industrial, mobility, defense, and specialty markets while partnering closely with Engineering, Operations, Quality, and other internal teams to ensure opportunities are technically and commercially viable.
Responsibilities:
- Aggressively prospect and develop new customer logos for Edelbrock's aluminum sand casting, machining, and related value-added manufacturing capabilities.
- Build and maintain a qualified new-business pipeline by identifying target companies, casting applications, sourcing contacts, engineering decision-makers, and upcoming programs.
- Lead opportunities from initial customer engagement through RFQ, feasibility review, quoting, commercial negotiation, award, and production launch.
- Present and sell Edelbrock Foundry solutions using technical product knowledge and value-based selling strategies tailored to customer needs and applications.
- Conduct outreach through cold calling, email, referrals, industry networking, trade shows, and other prospecting methods to create new business opportunities.
- Work with prospective customers to understand part requirements, annual volumes, tooling needs, machining and secondary operations, quality expectations, timing, and commercial requirements.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Finance, and other internal teams to evaluate casting feasibility, capacity, tooling, pricing, profitability, and launch readiness.
- Prepare and deliver customer presentations, quotations, and commercial proposals; negotiate pricing and terms while protecting revenue and margin objectives.
- Maintain accurate CRM records and provide regular reporting on prospect activity, RFQs, quote conversion, pipeline value, new-logo wins, competitor activity, and market trends.
Target Market Segments:
This role will focus on acquiring new aluminum sand casting customers outside Edelbrock's existing client base, with particular emphasis on Marine; Rail & Train; Aerospace; Military & Defense; Medical Equipment; Heavy-Duty Trucks; Powersports; Agriculture; HVAC; Power Transmission & Utilities; and Water Management / Irrigation Systems.
Experience/Skills Required:
- Proven experience in business development or outside sales within foundry, aluminum casting, engineered components, or industrial manufacturing.
- Demonstrated track record of opening new accounts, developing new customer relationships, and generating measurable new-business revenue rather than solely managing an established account base.
- Ability to build a sales pipeline from the ground up and independently prospect into accounts where Edelbrock has little or no existing relationship.
- Working knowledge of technical or engineered-product selling and the ability to communicate effectively with sourcing, engineering, operations, quality, and other technical stakeholders.
- Experience managing opportunities through prospecting, RFQ, feasibility review, quoting, commercial negotiation, award, and launch.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, negotiation, relationship-building, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, CRM platforms, and sales pipeline management; ability to work independently in a remote environment and travel as business needs require.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years of sales or business development experience within foundry, aluminum casting, or metal component manufacturing.
- Direct experience selling aluminum sand castings and developing new sand-casting customers strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of aluminum sand casting processes, tooling and pattern development, machining, heat treatment, secondary operations, and custom casting applications.
- Familiarity with OEM sales, custom casting projects, quoting processes, and customer applications within the target market segments.
