Job description

The Business Development Manager will drive sustainable and profitable revenue growth by boosting sales and forging strong relationships with new and existing clients. This position calls for a first point of contact with new potential clients when seeking information on the products and services the company provides. This position will prospect new business through advertising, cold calling, networking, engaging in industry associations or utilizing other methods to generate interest from potential clients. This position will design persuasive approaches and proposals to convert potential clients into business customers. The position will work closely with RESA’s regional operations teams to design new solutions and services for existing clients and maintain existing accounts. Additionally, this position may also involve a focus on a specific industry sector in a subject matter expert capacity if applicable.

Job Responsibilities

  • Generate and qualify new business leads via in person, phone or email contacts.
  • Schedule sales appointments and activities.
  • Promote RESA services to new and existing customers.
  • Manage total prospecting and bid response process for new business leads.
  • Maintain current relationships and identify potential customers.
  • Contact potential customers to develop relationships and sales.
  • Research market sector trends to help RESA Power take advantage of market developments.
  • Diligently work to ensure goals are met, such as sales numbers and profitability goals for sold accounts and the respective RESA BUs involved.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of products and services while proactively researching innovations to bring to potential and existing clients.
  • Generate and present monthly reports and reviews of sales pipelines, contracts and opportunities.
  • Work closely with RESA Power BU General Managers to review account status regularly.
  • Work closely with RESA Power Sales Engineers to develop existing and new accounts.
  • Work closely with Marketing to develop effective promotional campaigns and collateral.
  • Represent RESA Power at industry networking events and trade shows as needed.
  • Researching organizations and individuals to find new opportunities.
  • Increasing the value of current customers while attracting new ones.
  • Finding and developing new markets and improving sales.
  • Attending conferences, meetings, and industry events.
  • Developing quotes and proposals for clients.
  • Developing goals for the development team and business growth and ensuring they are met.
  • Training personnel and helping team members develop their skills.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years of experience.
  • Knowledge of various industry standards such as: NETA, NEC, OSHA and NFPA. Strong background and experience in most types of high voltage equipment through the 230 kV class.
  • Working knowledge of the competitive power industry markets and utilities.
  • Ability to demonstrate focus towards business growth and opportunities.
  • Proven Sales experience creating and closing sales opportunities.
  • Proven ability to generate close customer relationships.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to conduct effective presentations remotely using video conferencing software such as Zoom.
  • Ability to confidently and effectively engage high-level decision makers in respective businesses and cultivate relationships at the C-Suite level.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and presentation skills. Experience presenting in front of groups, C-Level executives and senior decision makers.
  • Ability to multi-task and shift priorities as needed.
  • Strong analytical, technical and strategic thinking skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed to meet customers and internal stakeholders.
  • For positions that utilize a company vehicle, will be required to have a valid driver’s license.

Additional Information:

Travel: up to 75% Travel - will primarily be regional with nationwide travel as needed.
