Position Overview:

Queen City DMC is seeking a motivated and relationship-drivenBusiness Development Managerto lead client acquisition and revenue growth. This person will be the face of our company to corporate, association, and group clients, helping them discover the best Buffalo and Niagara Falls have to offer through custom events and destination experiences. The ideal candidate understands the value of local connections, and is excited to shape the growth of a young, vibrant Destination Management Company.

Key Responsibilities:
Sales & Business Development
  • Identify and pursue new group and corporate clients (meetings, incentives, events, tours)
  • Build and nurture relationships with local hotels, venues, tourism partners, and associations
  • Respond to inbound RFPs, and proactively pitch tailored proposals
  • Represent Queen City DMC at industry events, site tours, and networking functions
  • Maintain pipeline through a CRM and report regularly on sales activity
Client Relationship Management
  • Consult with clients to understand needs and present customized experience solutions
  • Conduct site visits and walkthroughs alongside clients
  • Serve as a key contact through the proposal and contracting phase, then transition to operations team
Product Knowledge & Support
  • Stay current on Queen City DMC's vendor offerings, tour packages, and pricing
  • Help refine and package new event concepts based on client interest and market trends
  • Provide feedback from the market to shape future sales and service offerings
Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of sales experience in hospitality, tourism, events, or DMC industry
  • Deep understanding of Buffalo & Western NY as a group destination
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Comfortable in both independent and collaborative roles
  • CRM familiarity (e.g., HubSpot, Zoho, or similar)
  • Willingness to travel locally and occasionally work evenings/weekends as needed for events or client hospitality
Preferred (but not required):
  • Existing network of local hospitality and corporate event contacts
  • Prior experience in hotel sales, CVB/DMO sales, or event planning
  • Experience with Canva, Google Workspace, and proposal tools
Compensation:
  • Base salary: $45,000
  • Commission on gross profit from booked events
  • Travel expense reimbursement + networking budget
  • Remote position with occasional travel
  • Opportunity to grow with a rapidly expanding brand
