We’re partnered with a leading public sector consultancy supporting the NBSS with the transition of a business-critical service away from its incumbent supplier and into their own infrastructure. The aim is to build a complete picture of how the service works today, close the gaps in what’s known, and make sure the team is ready to own and run it from Day 1.
You’ll be joining the NBSS Transition team, working hands-on with the incumbent supplier, technical teams and key stakeholders to uncover undocumented processes, map dependencies and shape the future support model. Documentation is incomplete and there are plenty of unknowns, so this is a role for someone who enjoys digging in and getting to the bottom of things.
The consultancy is looking for an experienced contract Senior Business Analyst with a strong background in service transitions to play a key role in a successful handover.
What you’ll be working on:
- Supplier discovery and knowledge transfer: working closely with the incumbent supplier to understand how the service operates, identifying gaps, undocumented processes and key dependencies, and capturing the knowledge needed to take ownership.
- Service and technical discovery: building a clear picture of the existing processes, systems, integrations and operational requirements, working alongside technical teams on the legacy application and infrastructure, and identifying differences across local deployments and regional arrangements.
- Migration and transition: documenting what’s needed to migrate the service into the NBSS’s own infrastructure, identifying risks and impacts, and supporting migration planning, testing, cutover and transition readiness.
- Operational service handover: understanding how incidents, changes, releases and day-to-day operations are currently supported, and helping shape a future support model that’s ready to go from Day 1.
- Stakeholder engagement: building strong relationships with the supplier, technical teams and stakeholders, leading workshops to uncover requirements and challenge assumptions, and turning findings into clear, practical documentation and actions.
Requirements:
- Significant experience as a Business Analyst in complex technology or business-critical service environments.
- Proven experience supporting supplier transitions, service migrations or operational handovers.
- Strong track record leading discovery where documentation is incomplete and significant unknowns exist.
- Excellent process mapping, requirements gathering and dependency analysis skills, including functional, non-functional and operational requirements.
- Experience working closely with developers, infrastructure engineers, architects and technical SMEs, with a good understanding of integrations, data flows and infrastructure dependencies.
- Experience supporting migration planning, testing, cutover and operational readiness.
- Confident challenging suppliers and stakeholders to resolve gaps, assumptions and conflicting information.
- Strong stakeholder management, workshop facilitation and communication skills.
- Able to work independently, manage ambiguity and take ownership of deliverables.
Nice to have:
- Experience transitioning large-scale managed services between suppliers.
- Exposure to legacy applications, complex technology estates and distributed applications across multiple locations.
- Knowledge of ITIL service management processes.
- Experience with infrastructure migrations, application re-platforming or hosting transitions.
- Understanding of data migration, system integrations and information governance.
- Experience supporting service acceptance, operational readiness and transition governance.
- Experience working in regulated or highly controlled environments.
