Job summary

Law Firm Velocity is seeking a Lead Accountant for its fully remote accounting team serving law, architecture, and engineering clients across the US. You will prepare accurate financial and management reports and provide insights to guide client strategies.

You will reconcile balance sheets, review income statements, oversee multiple billing and reporting systems, and collaborate with firm managers and CFOs to address financial needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
• Job cost accounting experience preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of full‑cycle accounting experience.
• Minimum 2 years of financial statement responsibility.

As a Lead Accountant, you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate financial management and providing expert insights to drive our clients’ success. Responsibilities: Produce accurate financial and management reports that support data‑driven decision‑making for our clients. Provide insights into financial performance trends and deliver actionable feedback to optimize their financial strategies. Reconcile balance sheet accounts and review income statement items to ensure accuracy. Proactively identify patterns and potential issues. Oversee and streamline multiple billing, management, and reporting systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Leverage technology and best practices for optimal results. Support and collaborate with firm managers, CFOs, and other key stakeholders to address financial needs and other responsibilities as needed. Work Schedule Expectations: This is a full‑time role requiring 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. A secure, interruption‑free home office setup is essential. Education & Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance Experience with job cost accounting Minimum of 2 years of experience with full‑cycle accounting Minimum of 2 years of financial statement responsibility. Software Skills: Minimum of 12 months of experience using QuickBooks Online Experience using tools like Slack, Snagit, and Outlook Experience with payroll tools like Gusto, Paychex, QB Payroll, or other payroll processing software. While this role is 100% remote, it is a full‑time working position — not a side job. Candidates must be available during designated business hours, actively perform assigned responsibilities, and consistently meet performance expectations. Compensation: $65,000 – $70,000
