Nature and Scope
Under direction of the Afterschool Director or Youth Development Director, the bus driver is responsible for the safe transportation of all campers and staff while in route to and from Y Day camp locations and off‑site events.
Responsibilities
- Teach the basic skills of courtesy and safe driving to campers in a safe and respectful manner.
- Take attendance and provide safety information at the start of each trip.
- Inspect the vehicle for all safety guidelines and regulations.
- Follow all traffic regulations and guidelines and drive in a manner that ensures the safety of their passengers.
- Carry out daily program tasks related directly to the position's scope and responsibility.
- Maintain branch and association certifications in CPR, Metro Atlanta YMCA for New Staff Orientation and Branch Emergency procedures and any other required certifications and/or training required by the Metro Atlanta YMCA.
- Maintain and report incident/accident paperwork.

- Attend the designated dates for camp staff training.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 1+ years of experience working with children in a structured setting.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Current First Aid/CPR certification; obtain within 30 days of hire and maintain during employment.
- Pass a criminal background and drug screening check.
- Pass a Motor Vehicles Record Check and have own transportation.
- Exemplify YMCA ideals and leadership qualities.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong customer service skills and personal commitment to service and hospitality.
- Pass background checks, BFTS background checks, and drug screening.
- Use senses that enable safe supervision, including seeing and/or hearing.
Ergonomics
- Work actively while supervising children.
- Climb, walk, run, stoop, squat or kneel.
- L lift and carry equipment to appropriate destinations.
