Job summary

YMCA of Metro Atlanta is seeking a Bus Driver to ensure the safe transport of campers and staff to Y Day camp locations. The ideal candidate will possess strong customer service and leadership skills, along with a High School Diploma or GED.

You will be responsible for teaching safe driving practices, maintaining safety compliance of the vehicle, and ensuring the welfare of all passengers. This part-time position requires a positive attitude and a commitment to the YMCA's values.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience working with children in a structured setting.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Current CPR/First Aid certification required within 30 days of hire.

In the course of a year, we provide more than 3,000 children, ages 6 weeks through Pre-K with high-quality literacy and STEAM-infused learning; give 58,000 youth and teens access to sports, aquatics, day and resident camps, teen leadership development programs, and employment opportunities; provide over 200,000 members with programs, services, and facilities to enjoy connection and maintain wellness regardless of age; and engage over 25,000 volunteers and donors from across Atlanta to share in the gift of supporting their communities.**NATURE AND SCOPE:**Under direction of the Afterschool Director or Youth Development Director, the bus driver is responsible for the safe transportation of all campers and staff while in route to and from Y Day camp locations and off-site events.**RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):*** Teach the basic skills of courtesy and safe driving to campers in a safe and respectful manner.* Take attendance and provide safety information at the start of each trip.* Inspect the vehicle for all safety guidelines and regulations.* Follow all traffic regulations and guidelines and drive in a manner that ensures the safety of their passengers.* Carry out daily program tasks related directly to the position's scope and responsibility.* Maintain branch and association certifications in CPR, *Metro Atlanta YMCA for New Staff Orientation and Branch Emergency procedures* and any other required certifications and/or training required by the Metro Atlanta YMCA.* Responsible for maintaining and reporting incident/accident paperwork.**CRITICAL COMPETENCIES BASED ON NEEDS SPECIFIC TO ROLE:*** Be able to maintain a safe and healthy environment for staff and children* Be able to provide sound, caring and positive leadership for children* Provide, to everyone, extraordinary customer service* Be able to recognize and implement safety standards in all program activities* Have a good understanding of the mission and values of the YMCA and be able to demonstrate and teach based on those values* Communicate positively with parents and staff as required* Attend all staff camp training.* Must be able to pass a driving record check to drive for the YMCA* Attend the designated dates for camp staff training**REQUIREMENTS:*** High School Diploma OR GED* 1+ years of experience working with children in a structured setting* Must be at least 21 years of age* Required certifications current First Aid/CPR; must obtain within 30 days of hire as well as any other certifications required for the position* Pass a criminal background and drug screening check* Pass a Motor Vehicles Record Check and have own transportation* CPR within 30 days of employment and maintain throughout employment* Exemplify YMCA ideals, leadership qualities* Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills* Strong customer service skills and personal commitment to service and hospitality.* Pass background checks, BFTS background checks, and drug screening**ERGONOMICS:**Ability to work actively while supervising children.
