Job summary

The YMCA of Metro Atlanta seeks a reliable bus driver to transport campers and staff safely to and from Y Day camp locations and off-site events under the direction of the Afterschool Director or Youth Development Director. Responsibilities include teaching courtesy and safety on trips, taking attendance, inspecting vehicles, and following traffic regulations.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, 21+ age, and current First Aid/CPR certification.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 1 year of experience working with children in a structured setting.
  • Minimum age 21.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification (must obtain within 30 days of hire).
  • Pass a criminal background and drug screening.
  • Pass a Motor Vehicles Record Check and have own transportation.
  • Pass BFTS background checks (if applicable).
  • Legal eligibility to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect the vehicle for all safety guidelines and regulations.
  • Follow all traffic regulations and guidelines and drive in a manner that ensures the safety of passengers.

  • Maintain branch and association certifications in CPR, Metro Atlanta YMCA for New Staff Orientation and Branch Emergency procedures, and any other required certifications and/or training required by the Metro Atlanta YMCA.
  • Maintain and report incident/accident paperwork.

Overview

The YMCA of Metro Atlanta is one of the oldest and most essential non‑profits serving the Atlanta community. The organization offers a wide range of programs, services, and facilities for children, youth, and members, and actively engages volunteers and donors across the city.

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Afterschool Director or Youth Development Director, the bus driver is responsible for the safe transportation of all campers and staff while in route to and from Y Day camp locations and off‑site events.

Responsibilities

Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
