Job summary

Maryland Rural Development Corporation seeks a dependable Bus Driver to provide safe transport for Head Start children, ensuring on-time pickups and deliveries with strict safety protocols.

Responsibilities include supervising passenger safety with belts or appropriate child restraints, preventing unattended children, observing health, and coordinating with the Site Supervisor and families to design efficient routes.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or GED.
• Must have CDL with Bus and Passenger endorsements.
• Must have a clean driving record.
• Must pass a DOT annual physical, and a physical with TB test.
• Must pass a criminal background check in MD and surrounding states.

• Ensure that all passengers wear seat belts or are placed in appropriate (age or weight) car seats and belted in.
• Ensure that any behavioral issues do not compromise the safety of any child on the bus.
• Ensure that each child is delivered to the care of a responsible adult (on the authorized list) upon leaving the bus.
• Ensure that no child is ever left unattended while on the bus, following all procedures put in place to prevent a child being left behind.
• Visually observe the health of each child on the bus.
• Collaborate with Site Supervisor and families to design efficient bus routes.

Education

Job description

The MRDC Bus Driver provides safe bus transportation for Head Start children, assuring that each child is picked up and delivered on schedule daily. Bus Drivers:

• Transport assigned children to and from Head Start centers efficiently and safely.
• Ensure that all passengers wear seat belts or are placed in appropriate (age or weight) car seats and belted in.
• Ensure that any behavioral issues do not compromise the safety of any child on the bus.
• Ensure that each child is delivered to the care of a responsible adult (on the authorized list) upon leaving the bus.
• Ensure that no child is ever left unattended while on the bus, following all procedures put in place to prevent a child being left behind.
• Visually observe the health of each child on the bus.
• Collaborate with Site Supervisor and families to design efficient bus routes.

• Must have, at a minimum, a high school diploma or a GED.
• Must have current CDL with Bus and Passenger endorsements.
• Must have a clean driving record.
• Must successfully complete a D.O.T annual physical, and a physical with TB test.
• Must pass a criminal background check in MD and surrounding states.

Hourly Rate of Pay: $20.47
