Maryland Rural Development Corporation seeks aBus Driver to provide safe transportation for Head Start children, ensuring on-time pickups and drop-offs each day.

Responsibilities include enforcing seat belt use, managing behavior to maintain safety, delivering children to approved guardians, and collaborating with families to design efficient routes; must meet health and background checks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CDL with Bus and Passenger endorsements required.
• Clean driving record required.
• DOT annual physical and TB test required.
• Criminal background check in MD and surrounding states required.

Responsibilities

• Transport assigned children to and from Head Start centers efficiently and safely.
• Ensure that all passengers wear seat belts or are belted in with appropriate seating.
• Ensure any behavioral issues do not compromise safety on the bus.
• Deliver each child to the care of a responsible adult on the authorized list upon leaving the bus.
• Never leave any child unattended while on the bus; follow all safety procedures.
• Visually observe the health of each child on the bus.
• Collaborate with Site Supervisor and families to design efficient bus routes.

Job description

The MRDC Bus Driver provides safe bus transportation for Head Start children, assuring that each child is picked up and delivered on schedule daily. Bus Drivers:

• Transport assigned children to and from Head Start centers efficiently and safely.
• Ensure that all passengers wear seat belts or are placed in appropriate (age or weight) car seats and belted in.
• Ensure that any behavioral issues do not compromise the safety of any child on the bus.
• Ensure that each child is delivered to the care of a responsible adult (on the authorized list) upon leaving the bus.
• Ensure that no child is ever left unattended while on the bus, following all procedures put in place to prevent a child being left behind.
• Visually observe the health of each child on the bus.
• Collaborate with Site Supervisor and families to design efficient bus routes.

• Must have, at a minimum, a high school diploma or a GED.
• Must have current CDL with Bus and Passenger endorsements.
• Must have a clean driving record.
• Must successfully complete a D.O.T annual physical, and a physical with TB test.
• Must pass a criminal background check in MD and surrounding states.

Hourly Rate of Pay: $20.47
