Job summary

Maryland Rural Development Corporation is seeking a Bus Driver to provide safe daily transportation for Head Start children, ensuring on-time pickup and delivery. Responsibilities include ensuring belt usage, passenger safety, and alignment with authorized caregivers.

The role requires CDL with Bus and Passenger endorsements, a clean driving record, and compliance with DOT physicals and background checks. Competitive benefits accompany the hourly wage.

Qualifications

• Must have, at a minimum, a high school diploma or a GED.
• Must have current CDL with Bus and Passenger endorsements.
• Must have a clean driving record.
• Must successfully complete a D.O.T annual physical, and a physical with TB test.
• Must pass a criminal background check in MD and surrounding states.

Responsibilities

• Transport assigned children to and from Head Start centers efficiently and safely.
• Ensure that all passengers wear seat belts or are placed in appropriate (age or weight) car seats and belted in.
• Ensure that any behavioral issues do not compromise the safety of any child on the bus.
• Ensure that each child is delivered to the care of a responsible adult (on the authorized list) upon leaving the bus.
• Ensure that no child is ever left unattended while on the bus, following all procedures put in place to prevent a child being left behind.
• Visually observe the health of each child on the bus.
• Collaborate with Site Supervisor and families to design efficient bus routes.

Education
