The Maryland Rural Development Corporation is seeking a dedicated MRDC Bus Driver to transport Head Start children to and from centers safely and on schedule. This role emphasizes passenger safety and daily reliability.
Responsibilities include securing belts or car seats, maintaining a clean driving record, completing required DOT physicals and TB tests, and collaborating with families and Site Supervisor to plan efficient routes that keep children safe at all times.
The MRDC Bus Driver provides safe bus transportation for Head Start children, assuring that each child is picked up and delivered on schedule daily. Bus Drivers:
Transport assigned children to and from Head Start centres efficiently and safely.
Ensure that all passengers wear seat belts or are placed in appropriate (age or weight) car seats and belted in.
Ensure that any behavioural issues do not compromise the safety of any child on the bus.
Ensure that each child is delivered to the care of a responsible adult (on the authorised list) upon leaving the bus.
Ensure that no child is ever left unattended while on the bus, following all procedures put in place to prevent a child being left behind.
Visually observe the health of each child on the bus.
Collaborate with Site Supervisor and families to design efficient bus routes.
Must have, at a minimum, a high school diploma or a GED.
Must have current CDL with Bus and Passenger endorsements.
Must have a clean driving record.
Must successfully complete a D.O.T annual physical, and a physical with TB test.
Must pass a criminal background check in MD and surrounding states.
Hourly Rate of Pay: $20.47
