Job summary

Maryland Rural Development Corporation is seeking a MRDC Bus Driver to provide safe daily transportation for Head Start children. You will ensure seats belts are worn, supervise behavior, and hand off children to authorized adults at drop-off.

You will collaborate with the Site Supervisor to design efficient routes and must meet DOT physical, TB test, and clean driving record requirements. Benefits include health, retirement, life insurance, and PTO.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Must have a current CDL with Bus and Passenger endorsements.
• Must have a clean driving record.
• Must pass a D.O.T. annual physical and a TB test.
• Must pass a criminal background check in MD and surrounding states.

Responsibilities

• Transport assigned children to and from Head Start centres safely and on schedule.
• Ensure passengers wear seat belts and are belted in.
• Maintain safety and behavior protocols on the bus at all times.
• Deliver children to authorized adults on leaving the bus.
• Do not leave any child unattended on the bus.
• Collaborate with Site Supervisor and families to design efficient bus routes.

Job description

The MRDC Bus Driver provides safe bus transportation for Head Start children, assuring that each child is picked up and delivered on schedule daily. Bus Drivers:

• Transport assigned children to and from Head Start centres efficiently and safely.

• Ensure that all passengers wear seat belts or are placed in appropriate (age or weight) car seats and belted in.

• Ensure that any behavioural issues do not compromise the safety of any child on the bus.

• Ensure that each child is delivered to the care of a responsible adult (on the authorised list) upon leaving the bus.

• Ensure that no child is ever left unattended while on the bus, following all procedures put in place to prevent a child being left behind.

• Visually observe the health of each child on the bus.

• Collaborate with Site Supervisor and families to design efficient bus routes.

• Must have, at a minimum, a high school diploma or a GED.

• Must have current CDL with Bus and Passenger endorsements.

• Must have a clean driving record.

• Must successfully complete a D.O.T annual physical, and a physical with TB test.

• Must pass a criminal background check in MD and surrounding states.

Hourly Rate of Pay: $20.47
