Job summary

Pearland ISD is seeking a School Bus Driver to transport students safely to and from school and on extracurricular trips. You will operate a school bus, follow district policies, and maintain a professional, safety-focused environment for all riders.

Qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED, a valid Class B CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements, and Texas DPS School Bus Driver Certification. Drug screening and annual physicals may be required.

Qualifications

Job description

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Provide safe, orderly, and efficient transportation of students to and from school and on extracurricular trips.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education: High School Diploma or GED
• Licenses and Certifications:
  • Valid Class B Texas Commercial Driver's License with passenger and school bus endorsements
  • Current Texas Department of Public Safety School Bus Driver Certification
• Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Must maintain an acceptable driving record for school bus drivers as defined by Texas Department of Public Safety
  • Must be able to pass an annual physical and mental examination as required by Texas Department of Public Safety
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment and periodic drug and alcohol screening as required by federal law
  • Must be able to proficiently read, write, and communicate verbally in English
• Experience:
  • Experience working with children preferred but not required
  • Experience as a school bus driver preferred but not required

Maintain emotional control; ability to communicate effectively; ability to maintain effective control over groups of students

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Must be physically able to climb in and out of the school bus emergency door to perform evacuation procedures; continuous sitting, reaching, bending; repetitive hand and arm motions; work outside and inside; moderate exposure to extreme temperatures (heat); exposure to vehicle fumes. Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
