Job summary

Pearland ISD is seeking a school bus driver to provide safe, reliable transportation for students to and from school and field trips. You will operate a school bus, follow all safety rules, and uphold district policies while ensuring student supervision and orderly conduct.

Requirements include a valid Class B Texas CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements, DPS certification, and the ability to read, write, and communicate in English.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class B Texas CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements.
• Must hold current Texas DPS School Bus Driver Certification.
• Must read/write English and communicate effectively with students and staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, orderly transportation of students to and from school and events.
• Follow district and DPS safety procedures at all times.
• Maintain appropriate behavior and manage student conduct on the bus.

• Valid Class B Texas Commercial Driver's License with passenger and school bus endorsements
• Current Texas Department of Public Safety School Bus Driver Certification

Special Knowledge/Skills

• Must be 18 years of age
• Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions
• Must maintain an acceptable driving record for school bus drivers as defined by Texas Department of Public Safety

• Must be able to pass an annual physical and mental examination as required by Texas Department of Public Safety
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment and periodic drug and alcohol screening as required by federal law
• Must be able to proficiently read, write, and communicate verbally in English

Experience

• Experience working with children preferred but not required
• Experience as a school bus driver preferred but not required

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors

Must be physically able to climb in and out of the school bus emergency door to perform evacuation procedures; continuous sitting, reaching, bending; repetitive hand and arm motions; work outside and inside; moderate exposure to extreme temperatures (heat); exposure to vehicle fumes. Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
