Job summary

Daimler Truck North America in Detroit, MI is seeking an Engineer to contribute to the development of axle components and systems for medium and heavy-duty trucks and buses. You will work on product specification, design, DFMEA, testing, and documentation, collaborating with global teams to deliver robust propulsion solutions.

Applicants should have a mechanical engineering degree and 2–4 years of relevant experience, plus strong problem solving, CAD skills, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar technical field.
  • 2–4 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience identifying and solving root causes of complex problems.
  • Background in mechanical hardware development and propulsion systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate with management.

Responsibilities

  • Develop axles and axle components for medium and heavy-duty trucks and buses.
  • Document product specifications, concept, design, DFMEA/DVP, tolerances, simulations, prototype assembly and testing.
  • Collaborate globally with Detroit, Stuttgart & Portland colleagues on hardware development.
  • Release axle components and systems to production and manage suppliers.
  • Create project plans, timelines, and assist with budget requests.
