Job summary

Daimler Truck North America in Detroit, MI, seeks an engineer to help develop axle components and systems for medium- and heavy-duty trucks and buses. You will collaborate on design, DFMEA, testing, and documentation while coordinating with global teams across locations.

The role requires a Mechanical Engineering degree with 2–4 years of relevant hardware development experience, strong CAD skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, international setting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar technical field.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in mechanical hardware development.
  • Experience identifying and solving the root cause of complex problems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop axles (mechanics) for medium- and heavy-duty truck & bus applications on component and system level.
  • Document product specification, concept, design, packaging, DFMEA/DVP, tolerances and testing.
  • Collaborate with global teams (Detroit, Stuttgart, Portland) on hardware development.
  • Lead and manage suppliers to ensure timely delivery and quality.
  • Create project plans, timelines and assist with budget definitions.
  • Resolve plant issues and customer requests promptly.
  • Engage in cross-functional activities with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Sales, Purchasing.
