HomeWorks Trenton is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Bus Aide to support the safe transportation of our scholars. This role is crucial in ensuring that scholars travel to and from school safely, feel supported during their ride, and experience a positive start and end to their school day.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist scholars with boarding and exiting the bus safely
- Ensure scholars are seated properly and wearing seat belts
- Monitor and manage scholar behavior to maintain a safe, respectful environment
- Communicate with the bus driver and HomeWorks staff regarding concerns or incidents
- Help maintain cleanliness and order on the bus
- Follow all safety procedures and HomeWorks guidelines
Required Training
- Must complete mandatory bus aide training prior to operating routes.
- Advanced First Aid/AED Training
Schedule
- September - June (Academic Year)
- Morning Bus Routes: Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM – 8:00 AM
- Reduced Day Bus Routes (if available): 12:20 PM – 1:20 PM
- July (Summer, July 20 - August 7)
- Morning Bus Route: Monday - Thursday: 7:40 AM - 8:40 AM
Qualifications
- Experience working with children or students, ideally in an educational or childcare setting
- Ability to pass a background check
- Strong communication skills and ability to interact effectively with students, parents/guardians, and staff
- First aid certification or willingness to obtain certification
- Comfort working in a dynamic, classroom-like environment on the bus
- Patience, professionalism, and the ability to manage conflicts or situations calmly
Pay: $20/hour
