Job summary

LEAP Academy University Charter School in Camden, NJ is hiring a Bus Aid Part-Time to help ensure student safety on routes from neighborhoods to school buildings. The role supports the bus driver, assists with loading and unloading, and monitors student wellbeing during the trip.

This position requires a high school diploma, being 18+, the ability to pass background checks, and the capacity to lift up to 50 lbs. Work is 2 hours per day in a ten-month contracted schedule, with non-exempt status.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist the bus driver when requested or as needed.
• Assist students requiring help loading or unloading the bus.
• Monitor the student's wellbeing and behavior during the route.
• Respond appropriately to students' needs during the route and notify the driver of emergencies or issues.
• Be familiar with the daily routes to assist a substitute or new driver.
• Secure special needs students and equipment with restraints, tie downs, wheelchairs, seatbelts, car seats, etc.
• Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.

• Available for 2 hours per day

ADDITIONAL DUTIES: Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Director of Transportation and/or Lead Person/COO and Chief Financial Officer/SBA.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten-month contracted position

EVALUATION: According to state statute and rule and board policy.

BENEFITS: Not Eligible

SALARY GRADE/RANGE: Hourly Rate - $16.00

STATUS: Non-exempt
