Job Summary

Marshall Academy is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Bus Aide. The ideal candidate will assist in providing a safe and supportive environment for students during transportation to and from school. This part-time position requires a commitment to ensuring the well-being of students, promoting positive behavior, and maintaining a respectful and orderly atmosphere on the bus. Would prefer a candidate who can do both morning and afternoon bus runs, but willing to split into AM and PM if needed. Hours are 6-8 AM and 3-5 PM daily when school is in session.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students while they board, ride, and disembark from the bus, ensuring their safety at all times. Special importance on assisting PreK students on and off the bus and during the trip.
• Assist students with special needs, providing necessary support and guidance as required.
• Monitor student behavior and enforce school policies to maintain a respectful and safe environment on the bus.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff regarding any concerns or incidents that may arise during transportation.
• Conduct safety checks on the bus before and after each route, reporting any issues to the appropriate personnel.
• Assist the bus driver in navigating routes and ensuring timely arrival and departure from school and designated stops.
• Participate in training sessions and meetings as required to stay informed about safety protocols and best practices.
• Foster a positive and encouraging atmosphere for students, promoting teamwork and cooperation among peers.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience working with children, preferably in a school or childcare setting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate well to students and staff.
• Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations, demonstrating patience and empathy.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and emergency procedures related to student transportation.
• Must pass a background check and meet any additional state requirements for working with children.
• Availability to work flexible hours, including early mornings and late afternoons, as required by the bus schedule.
