Job summary

University of Chicago Medicine's Burn ICU in Hyde Park is seeking a Staff Nurse (RN) for a 0.9 FTE night shift. This 100% onsite role supports adult and pediatric burn patients in a dedicated ICU setting. The RN will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in collaboration with the care team.

Requirements include NLN-accredited nursing education, an Illinois RN license, and BLS certification. ADN graduates are encouraged to pursue BSN within 30 months with tuition support; BSN

Qualifications

• Graduate of an NLN-accredited School of Nursing.
• Associate Degree in Nursing; BSN degree or higher preferred.
• Current Illinois RN license
• BLS from the American Heart Association
• ADN nurses are required to enroll in a BSN program within six to nine months of hire and complete BSN within 30 months with 100% tuition reimbursement.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes appropriate assessment skills to determine patient needs.
• Develops a plan of care for those patients whose needs do not require the expertise of a Case Manager or collaborates with the Case Manager to develop a plan of care for specified patients.
• Manages & collaborates with the Case Manager to develop a plan of care for specified patients.
• Assumes charge nurse responsibilities as assigned by the Care Center Director or the Patient Care Manager.
• Provides support to peers by assisting as needed, being a resource person, and working as a team member.
• Attends continuing education programs and participates in program evaluation.

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Illinois RN license
