Job summary

Qualifications

  • Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible or compact state
  • All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing will be required to enroll in an approved RN to BSN program within two years and to complete the program within five years
  • Clin II requires 12 to 24 months RN experience
  • Clin III requires 3 years of clinical experience
  • Clin III certification in a specialty area
  • All RN roles follow physician/licensed independent provider orders and VA rules
  • Supervisory responsibilities include organizing work and delegating to others on the unit
  • Clin I–III education/training: diploma/associate degree–RN program recognition by state Board of Nursing
  • Clin I–III education/training: Bachelor's degree preferred for advanced practice
  • Education/training: RN to BSN required within two years of start; completion within five years

Responsibilities

  • Deliver and accurately document direct, age-specific care based on medical orders and an integrated, multidisciplinary plan of care
  • Safely administer prescribed medications and identify incompatibilities/interactions
  • Provide direction, education, and leadership at the unit level
  • Support prevention of illness and injury, maintenance of wellness, and patient comfort
  • Follow established policies and procedures and ANA Code of Ethics for Nursing

Education

Diploma or Associate's Degree from a professional nursing program
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (preferred)
